Preparation of 3-oxo-19-nor-{66 {hu 4{l -steroids from 10-{8 3-substituted-alkyl{9 -desA-steroids

An improved process for converting 10-[3-substituted-alkyl]-19-nor-desA-steroids to pharmaceutically valuable 3-oxo- DELTA 4-19-nor steroids via oxime and hydrazine derivatives is described. The end-products are a known class of steroids which are useful as hormonal agents.
