<p>A shock absorber plate for attachment to the underside of a leg (13) on an article of furniture, consisting of a cup shaped shroud (1) enclosing a resilient block (4), is attached by a nail (10) whose head is covered by a corrugated elastic disc (12). The centre of the shroud has a depression large enough to house the nail head and disc, leaving a small clearance between the corrugated face and the floor. When weight is applied to the furniture, e.g. an arm chair, the block is compressed, and the corrugated face of the disc makes contact with the floor, acting as a brake. When there is no weight on the leg, the shroud acts as a glider when the chair is moved.</p> |
