The electromagnetic scanning pick-up made to standard dimensions, is held by an adjustment nut in a support at a certain distance from a gear on the machine shaft, transmitting the measurement pulses by means of its teeth. The adjustment nut is secured against rotation with respect to the support by a hardenable plastic, so that the pick-up cannot be lifted from its support. The invention allows the fitting and exchange of pick-ups within the necessary very fine tolerances without the necessity of making advance measurements except in the case of a first fitting. The tolerance held is namely a distancing of the gear from the pick-up of from 0.24 mm. plus or minus 0.06 mm.
