The underlay plates are for use in laying, fixing or otherwise securing panel-shaped building elements on a base, or for superimposing panels, with recesses between cams engaging adjacent elements, to form joint gaps, the plates being placed in the area of the edges of abutting corners of the panels, and with radially running quartering fracture lines to form segments. There may be two cross-stems, running concentrically to each other, formed by the recesses, the outer stem forming at least part of the edge of the underlay plate, and the inner one at least part of the segment edge. The cross-stems may run radially, forming at least part of the edges of the separable segments. Material is saved, with no sacrifice of static qualities.
