Organofunctional silanes with N-contg. ring - used as adhesion promoters between metal(oxides) and polymers

Organofunctional silanes of formula (I) (where R is 1-4C alkyl which is opt. interrupted by O or S; R' is H or 1-4C alkyl; A is 2-4C and B 1-10C non-substd. satd. and opt. branched divalent hydrocarbon gps) are useful as adhesion promoters between inorganic oxides and/or metal surfaces and polymers, and are either applied on the inorganic oxide or metal surfaces or are incorporated in the polymers, e.g. P-F and epoxy resins. Adhesion is stronger than obtd. with conventional silanes, e.g. alpha-amino-propyltriethoxysilane and is not affected by prolonged storage. Amt. of (I) used is 0.05-5% based on resin. The oxides and metals may be e.g. glass, quartz, diatomaceous earth, asbestos, CaCO3, Fe, Zn.Al etc.
