The polyols are prepared by reacting an epoxide of the formula above or in conjunction with other epoxy compounds, with an appropriate polyfunctional initiators, such as polyols, polyamines, polythiols and aminopolyols. In an example N- aminoethylpiperazine is reacted with cyanoethyl glycidyl ether to give as a product N,N11,N11-tris-[2-hydroxy-3-(beta-cyanoethoxy)- propyl]-N1-aminoethyl-piperazine.
