1420598 Windows; window fastenings INTERNATIONAL WINDOW CO LTD 31 Jan 1973 [31 Jan 1972] 4444/72 Headings E1J and E2A A pivotable window has its pivot axis passing through opposing faces of sash and fixed frame members 5a, 3a, the frame member being hollow and containing catch means 7 (Fig. 4). the catch having a projection 28 spring biassed to project through an aperture in the frame member into an aperture or recess in the sash member when the sash has been pivoted to a predetermined position, the catch being manually displaceable against the bias to release the sash for closing. Horizontal pivot stud 27 (Fig.3) is welded to a bar 18 which is riveted to the sash member, the stud extending through the frame member and being secured by spring washer 22 and nut 20. Catch member 7 is pivoted in a housing 6 in the frame member 3a and is biassed by spring 14'. Two studs 28 welded to member 7 project through respective apertures above and below the pivot 27. When the window is opened the upper stud engages in an aperture in bar 18 to retain the window. To release the upper stud, the lower stud is depressed manually. The window may be held horizontally, the studs projecting on upper and lower rides. The window has a latch assembly at the top comprising latch member 8 pivoted to housing 9 and biassed by spring 14 to engage member 10. An alternative latch assembly at the bottom comprises a slidable bolt (150, Figs. 14-16, not shown) biassed by spring (162). The sash has side frame members 5a, 5b only, closed by end caps 13 or has a complete frame. The frame members are of metal or plastics. |
