Signals are transmitted in the form of pulse telegrams through sender and receiver stores and with the same propagation time between a polarity change appearance at the sender and receiver. Each pulse telegram is provided with two identification bits, one of which is generated and fed into the sender store when at least one polarity change is present during a time interval t for the pulse telegram transmission. Each time interval t, during which an entry in the sender store is made, changes the first identification bit. The second identification bit is generated and transmitted together with a current pulse telegram when at least one further polarity change appears at the store input during this telegram sending.
