Organic mother contaminating hydrochloric acid is removed, without substantially changing the concn. of the acid, by flowing with an inert gas in the volume ratio gas: acid between 1:1 to 20:1 (pref. 3:1 to 10:1); the inert gas is pref. air or nitrogen. The acid may be additionally purified by means of an absorbent, pref. active carbon. The gas can be recycled. Purificn. of hydrochloric acid produced by the chlorination of organic substances is carried out in economical way without concn. changes. The process can be performed continuously in co- or counter-current. |
