1455544 Cooling towers HAMON-SOBELCO SA 23 Jan 1975 [8 Feb 1974] 3067/75 Heading F4K In a fan assisted natural draught cooling tower incorporating a number of fans 34 each surrounded by a respective shroud 32a, 32b, 32c, 32d, the upper and lower ends of said shrouds are connected to a pair of spaced apart horizontally extending air impervious partitions 30 and 36 which ensure that all the cooling air leaving the gas-liquid contact packing 22 passes upwardly through the fan shrouds. The upper partition 36 together with the lower partition 30, portions of the walls of the fan shrouds and vertical walls 40, 42, 44, 46 and 48 defines a closed chamber 38 which maintenance personnel may enter via a stairway 55 and door 52 without being exposed to the cooling air stream. Doors 54 give access to each of the fan shrouds, and a movable cross beam of gantry 56 carrying a hoist mechanism 62 may span each shroud to permit repair work to be carried out on the fans 34. An internal framework comprising vertical columns 28 serves to support a liquid distribution system 24, mist eliminators 26, the packing 22 and the lower horizontal partition 30. |
