The pump has a casing with an upper (1) and a lower (2) section separated by a dividing wall (3). In the upper section there is a rotor (9) on a shaft (6) carrying a disc (8). The shaft is held in sintered metal bearings (4, 5). The disc is built as a commutator which runs past carbon brushes (10) connected to electric leads and under permanent magnets (11). The shaft extends through an opening in the dividing wall and carries an impeller disc (17) which is cast in one piece with blades (25). Liquid enters through a central opening (33) in the casing and is discharged by the impeller through an opening (27) in the dividing wall so that it flows past and lubricates the motor before being discharged from the pump (21).
