The counter (14) is connected to a filter and control device (42). A differential amplifier (41) has an output (45) which is connected to a digital filter (43) which has an output (44) to the counter. An amplifier (46) is connected in parallel with the digital filter and has a separate input to the counter. The counter and filter system form part of a control system and the counter has several connections to a multiplexer and a demultiplexer. The demultiplexer is connected to a display device. The control system (1) is remote from the machine being regulated and has several connections to a local control system on the machine.
