Wheels for chain or toothed belt drive - manufactured from discs and specially formed links

The wheel (20) for a toothed belt drive is made from a disc (22) with a hub (24) and bore (26) for mounting on a shaft. A number of equally spaced holes (28) are provided near the disc periphery. The driving elements consist of pairs of side plates (32) attached with bolts (30) which are fitted through the holes (28). The outer ends of the sides plates (32) are joined tot he neighbouring side plates with links (34) and pins (36). The disc (22) is enclosed by a length of chain with the end side plates (32) being joined by links (34) through the holes (38). The form of the side plates (32) and links (34) can be changed to suit the type of belt or chain being used.
