<p>The valve body (2) has a straight through bore, threaded (20) at each end. The spherical plug (6) fits into the body, being held by the operating stem (7, 10). Each threaded end is closed by an end fitting (8, 8') screwed in place and provided with an O ring (12) to prevent leakage. The inner end face of the fitting has an annular groove (13), equipped with an O ring (14) at the bottom and a seal ring (15) of plastic material on top. This seal ring bears against the spherical plug and requires a less critical fit, due to the elastic force exerted by the O ring behind it.</p> |
