1464170 Adhesive coated materials IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 5 Nov 1975 [27 Nov 1974] 51363/74 Heading B2E Decorative sheet material, e.g. a floor, wall or shelf covering, is provided on one surface with a water activatable adhesive layer which is further coated with a layer of a dry powdered deliquescent material, e.g. LiCl 2 , CaCl 2 , MgCl 2 , FeCl 3 , Ca(NO 3 ) 2 or a mixture of two or more of these. The adhesive may include a material which either absorbs water or reacts with water, e.g. plaster of Paris, Portland cement or other cementitious material. The coated material may be rolled up and stored away from atmospheric moisture, e.g. in a sealed bag, until required for use. Suitable adhesives are based on starch, starch derivatives, cellulose derivatives, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl acetate, polyacrylates and other natural and synthetic materials. The adhesive may also be pressure sensitive. The particle size of the deliquescent material is preferably below 200 microns. The substrate may be paper or paper coated with synthetic resins, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polypropylene or polystyrene. The resin may be cellular or non-cellular. |
