<p>The sharpener consists of a housing with handle in which a small grinding wheel (13) is mounted. Two conical discs (17, 18) are mounted at either side of the grinding wheel. The tops of the cones are adjacent to the wheel, so that ring shaped gaps with one sloping edge are provided at either side of the grinding wheel. When a knife is placed against the face of one of the conical discs, the knife will lie at the correct angle to the grinding wheel for sharpening. If the edge of a shear blade is to be sharpened against the circumference of the grinding wheel, a shield (32) is pulled over the wheel. This shield is normally pivoted out of the way under the wheel. The shield is provided with a slot at an angle, which makes it possible to draw the edge of a shear blade at the correct angle across the grinding wheel.</p> |
