The reversible step-down gearing is used for reducing shaft angular velocity to less than a tenth of its initial value, or for increasing it by a factor of over ten. The gearbox has two cup-shaped sections (10, 12) with sealed flanges (14, 16) bolted (18, 20) together. The drive shaft (28) and concentric driven shaft (22) are each supported in ball bering races in axial recesses in the hubs. There is a fixed toothed rim (36) in the drive shaft housing, and an eccentric section (38) on the drive shaft, bearing a toothed wheel (40) meshing with the fixed rim. The difference in pitch circle diameters is double the eccentricity of the shaft section. The wheel (40) is permanently meshed at one point one the circumference. A plate (52) with tongues (54, 56) engages slots in the wheel (40), transmitting its rotation to the driven shaft (22).
|
