The overhead arm for electric trams has a current collection assembly, mounted at its extremity, of two separate conducting shoes (200, 300). The shoes are pivoted about each end of a balance arm, one shoe pivotted vertically and the other horizontally. The balance arm (150) is horizontally and pivotted to a mounting (160) which is connected to the overhead arm (100) by a flexible vertical rubber bush (190). The arc followed by the assembly under small vertical displacements is determined by a sloted curved plate (151) connected to the leading shoe and sliding about a horizontally sprung axis in the over head arm. The assembly ensures that at least one shoe is always in contact with the overhead cable.
