Reactor for building into the exhaust line of a combustion engine to reduce harmful materials contained in the exhaust gases. The reactor (1) has inner walls (3,4) through which the exhaust gas passed in through the inlet channel (2) is deflected several times on flowing through the reactor (1) until it re-emerges through the outlet channel (7). In the reactor (1), a shorter exhaust gas path of low resistance passes directly to a second outlet channel (8), in which is an adjustable choke valve (9). The two outlet channels (7,8) are brought together again after the choke valve (9).
