The floor valve has a pressure medium activated closure piston (4) which comprises a compressible medium filled pressure chamber (6) extending in the opening direction. It is in turn closed by a piston (7) fixed to the housing. The closure piston (4) possesses a filling connection (11) which extends outwards through the housing fixed piston (7). This filling connection (11) is closed by means of an adjustable safety valve which protects the floor valve from harmful excess pressure in the pressure chamber. Temperature influences can be compensated, and the return of the closure piston (4) to the closed position is consistent.
