1482202 Self closing door mountings TIMBER RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION 17 Dec 1974 [18 Dec 1973] 58546/73 Headings E2F and E2M A door is mounted, so as to close under its own weight when opened in either direction, by means of an upper hinge comprising a pivot pin 31 secured to the door and engaged in a member 33 secured to the door frame, and a lower hinge comprising two spaced rollers 23 secured to the door and engaging in slots 14 formed in a floor plate 15; one of the rollers 23 pivoting about axis 13 when the door is opened while the other slides in its slot 14, and the pivoting roller 23 defining with the pin 31 a tilted pivot axis for the door causing the door to close under its own weight. The pin 31 has a part spherical head portion 32 which engages in a corresponding cavity 34 in the member 33. The rollers 23 are mounted on plates 22 and the pin 31 is adjustably mounted on a plate 35. Fire restricting strips 19 and 37 are mounted in door frame and door recesses. The pin 31 is screwed to a required depth in a threaded sleeve when mounted and plate 35 is screwed down the pin to lock it in position. |
