Bar or frame of thermoplastic material, pref. 6-polyamide has firmly bonded to it a layer of bristles or a strip of fabric, animal hide, skin, rubber, etc. The strip or bristle layer is clamped in a groove which engages over the edge of the strip on both sides over the whole length of the bar or frame, which has greater rigidity than the strip. The device may be used as a screen, filter membrane, or brake strip for a yarn end drum in an automatic loom. It is mfd. by injecting the thermoplastic material at 280-350 degrees C and at a pressure of 700-1300 kg/cm2 into a mould in the cavity of which the strip has been placed. The heat of the thermoplastic material is conducted away from the mould so rapidly that the strip material is unaffected. |
