<p>The tank contains two pairs of transport rollers (3, 4) at the top, and a guide roller (3) at the bottom, of the loop of film or paper. A transport band (5), in the form of a closed loop, passes round the guide roller and round one of each pair of transport rollers (3). The photographic material enters between one pair of transport rollers (in the direction of the arrow), and passes down into the tank with its back to the transport band (5) and its emulsion side facing a set of fluid jet nozzles (6). It exits through the second pair of transport rollers and passes directly into the following tank, without encountering any intervening guides. The guide roller may be made smaller and the photographic material held against it by auxiliary rollers or balls. The jet nozzles may be replaced by rollers.</p> |
