The brake system is used for fire protection gate closed by potential energy after a holding mechanism has been released. The closing energy is generated by counter-weights, springs, compressed air storage arrangements or by inclined travelling path of the gate. The gates are accelerated during movement and very high impact forces are generated at the end of travel. The brake arrangement reduces impact forces and the risk that persons of objects are crushed between the closing gates. The brake has a cylinder actuated by a roller lever or by inclined skid. The energy of gate closing can be also absorbed by a friction system. This brake arrangement can be used for sliding, rotating, folding, lifting, lowering and tilting gates.
