The HV transformer has a toroidal secondary winding enclosed in a toroidal housing through which the single primary conductor passes axially. The forked connecting piece has contact surfaces at right angles to the axis of the housing and is located in a second sub-housing or cap attached to the main housing. The contact zones on the subhousing and the two-armed connecting piece's contact surfaces lie in the same plane as the forked connecting piece's contact surfaces. The two-armed piece's contact surfaces can be made to contact the contact zones of the subhousing and the forked contact piece.
