Radial sealing ring has a radially inner or outer cylindrical sealing surface and a radially outer or inner groove which defines a pair of radially outwardly or inwardly directed sealing shanks through the intermediary of which they cylindrical surface is pressed into sliding contact with a rotary member, whereby the cylindrical surface is provided with a layer which is rounded off at the axial ends and the layer which is bonded to the surface is made of a super polyamide or a PTFE. Use of plastics with low coefft. of friction reduces wear and prevents siezing. Cylindrical surface ensures uniform pressure distribution preventing flow of material.
