the retaining and fixture device is for panel or board type wall or ceiling claddings, with edge grooves for tongue and groove connection, with a stop side and transverse retainer sides, one of the latter in an outside plane forming a fixing side with one or more apertures for fixture screws, nails or clamps. It has retainer sidewalls (19, 24, 26) in more than two parallel planes, interconnected by two, or more stop sidewalls (17, 18) which are mutually offset parallel to each other, in each case extending between two of the three planes. The parallel offsetting can correspond to the depth of groove (12), or width of tongue (13), of the cladding elements (10, 11) to be retained. Secure and stable edge fixture can be attained even with relatively weak groove sides and tongue thickness, on thin panels.
