Excess metal in a forged ring blank demands extra power and subsequent removal of the outer flashing and the compressed central diaphragm. The pressed blank reduces required power and fettling. The transportable ring blank rolling machine has two alternative counter mandrels. A slide-mounted thicknessing roll works with either mandrel. Two mandrels project upwards from their housings. A roll travels on two fixed piston rod guides which are double acting for each direction. The spindle pivots two arms and centring rolls. A sprung double acting ram and lever provide support for the centring rolls.
