Coal plough guide for ploughs chain hauled along the face via a guide plate (6) and baseplate (8) hinged in sections to pass under the conveyor structure using transverse hinges at face and waste sides of the this. The baseplate hinge points (20) on the face side lie higher than the waste side hinges (19) and are offset outward from the conveyor and guide plate. The plate itself projects below the conveyor side (1) to engage a slot in the baseplate alongside the face side hinges (20). The hinges (20) on the face side should comprises parts of the baseplate which are angled upwards to form components for the hinge, with the twin-eye component on the centre baseplate part and the single eye component on the outer component of the baseplate.
