<p>The exchange has a number of switching points arranged in rows and columns and consisting of bistable relays in series with a rectifier. These switching points are connected to wires allocated to rows and columns. Bistable relays have two release windings (2, 3) opposing the pick-up winding (1), one of which is inserted in series in corresponding horizontal, and the other in corresponding vertical wires. Magnetic flux (XYan) generated by the pickup winding (1) is greater than the total flux generated by both release windings (Xab + Yab) by the amount necessary for the relay operation. On the other hand magnetic flux (Aab, Yab) generated by one of the release windings is sufficient for resetting of an operated relay.</p> |
