A medical brace for correcting curvature of the spine has two arms, one arm (1) having a hook (9) at the lower end to engage the body of the patient. The other arm (2) has a screw (12) through it at the other end, to adjust the distance between the arms, and thus to adjust the distance of the hook along a spindle (10) through its arm (1). The second arm has a recess (13) into which fits the domed end of the spindle. At the point where the spindle passes through its arm, are two jaws (5, 6) connected by a joint (7), and with a hinge pin (11) through them. These allow a setting screw (8) to be adjusted on the first arm (1). At the top, the second arm is split, and the force exerted on the arm is indicated by a swinging needle (17) moving over a scale (18).
|
