Glued joint for space frames of laminated wood - has fitted corner pieces forced into position by hydraulic jacks and joint formed by multiple scarfing for large large contact area

Two main members (1) and (2) of a space frame of laminated wood are joined together by being glued to a corner piece (3). The joint (5) between the corner piece (3) and the members (1) and (2) is formed by multiple scarfing so that there is a large contact arc between the mating pieces. The corner piece are forced into position with hydraulic jacks and the frame is bonded with a thermo-plastic resin. The fitting of the corner pieces (3) ensures that the direction of the loads at the joint is kept more in line with the direction of the grain of the wood with a consequent increase in strength.
