The shotgun cartridge wad is moulded from plastic and has a base (1) in the form of an inverted cup (2). This provides a seal for the propulsive gases, the rim (3) being bevelled. The lead pellets are held in a carrier (4), this being a deep cylindrical container (5). The mouth of the container is open and has axial slits (6) around its circumference. These parts are joined by semicircular arms (8, 9), attached to each part (11, 12) and to each other at their spaces (10). These absorb the propulsive shock and their deformation is controlled by bosses acting as stops.
|
