The terminal block (10a) provides a normally screwless connection and distribution of electrical wiring. The upper corners of the block are angled towards the user and have a complex recessed shape (11) enabling a variety of different sizes and shapes of identification plates or labels (12) to be mounted on these surfaces. Each of the corner recesses is symmetrical about a central undercut rib (19) and has approx. half way between this rib and its two edges an undercut shoulder (22). The outer edges (16) themselves protrude over the recess such that semi-rigid labels or escutcheons can be trapped by their edges in the undercuts.
