A transmission system has an input shaft (2) rotating at constant speed and driving an elliptical cam (51) which imparts an oscillating motion to the rod (53) which is connected to the slotted lever (58') by the pin (56). The lever (58') is pivoted on a pin (59) mounted on a block which can be moved by the screwed rod (9). The other end of the lever (58") is attached to the toothed rack (61) which imparts an angular oscillation to the pinion (63) which drives the shaft (7). The shaft (7) is connected to a differential gear box which is driven through a train of gears from the input shaft (2). The output shaft from the differential gear box rotates with a periodically varying angular motion which can be varied by rotating the screwed shaft (9).
