A linear transfer slide (24) has a number of equally spaced pockets (28) for the location of identical objects (2). A loading rail (8) above the transfer slide carries an equal number of upside down channel sections (16) which are attached to the piston rod of a pneumatic cylinder (20). A feeder tube places an object in each of the channel sections (16). The cylinder rod (20) is then retracted so that all loading pockets (16) move along the rail (8) until the objects they contain fall through holes (14) into the pockets (28) of the transfer slide below.
