The distributor head is used in an irrigation system and has an intermittent rotation, the nozzle pausing at present intervals to stabilise the jet and increase its throw. It comprises an enclosed chamber (84) containing a turbine wheel (38) driving a Geneva mechanism through reduction gearing (42). The water enters through the base (32) passages (36) providing entry into the chamber and also the turbulence to drive the turbine. The rotating nozzle (10, 12) is fixed to the output shaft (83) of the Geneva motion, part rotation and dwell being controlled by the number of pegs in the driving disc (44) and the number of slots in the star wheel (46).
