<p>The variable-diameter pulley (11) comprises two pulley halves (22, 23) with converging sides (22a, 23a) facing one another, and capable of being moved towards and away from one another. The movement away due to tension of the belt or chain (12) is controlled by a piston (30, 37) coupled to one element (22) and contained in a cylinder in the other element (23). The cylinder consists of two sub-cylinders (35, 36) and (44, 45) and the piston of two sub-pistons (30, 37) each movable in one sub-cylinder. Hydraulic pressure controls supply pressurised hydraulic fluid to the cylinders so as to move the elements towards one another.</p> |
