<p>The port or hatch in the side of the vehicle is sealed for amphibious travel by a clip-on sealing cover (4) whose edges have profiled lips (7) which locate in grooves in the side walls of the port (2). The edges are further secured by a wire tie (8) clipped around the port and tightened by a snap fastener. The snap fastener is fitted to two metal plates clamped over the seal, with the cable tie inside the flexible cover. The same type of fastener can be fitted to a flexible cover for external attachments to the vehicle, such as winches, to protect them in the water.</p> |
