<p>The vibration damper is attached to the bend in the exhaust pipe of an automobile to reduce vibration. A flat strut (4) is welded to one side (2) of the bent (1) of the exhaust pipe. A second similar strut is attached to the other side (3) by a clip with a bolt (17). The two struts overlap and are held together by a single bolt (10) which has a spacing sleeve (11) clamped between two washers (13) and supports a stack of disc springs (14) by a larger washer (15). The sleeve passes through large clearance holes (8, 9) in the struts so that a degree of lateral movement is possible.</p> |
