[Also in Division B5] A mixing machine comprises within a conical barrel 18 a feed screw cone 10, the barrel 18 being pivotally mounted on a supporting structure so that together with any heating and cooling parts still connected thereto it may be swung clear of the feed screw cone 10 to facilitate cleaning. The feed screw cone defines an angle of 60 degrees and is hollow having an axial sleeve 11 through which passes a hydraulically adjustable bar 12 at the forward end of which is connected a mandrel 13 solely supported by the forward end of the cone 10. The barrel flange 22 is attached to a pair of side arms connected to a horizontal shaft by which means an arm carries a counter weight, Fig. 2 (not shown). A feed hopper 28 can be raised when it is desired to swing the barrel 18 away from the cone 10. Electric strip heaters and cooling tubes may be connected to the barrel 18 and do not require to be removed during the cleaning operation. |
