New elastic insecticidal coating mass for animal collars contains an insecticide with a vapour pressure of ca 10-4 to ca 10-6 Torr in a cold. hardening 2-component system. The collar is for small animals esp. cats and dogs. Low toxicity and uniform rate of insecticide release is obtd. Pleasant appearance (no "blooming"). Adaptability appearance can be varied by using different carriers for the coating mass. TEchnically simple production. The insecticide is preF. a carbamate, esp. propuxur. The cold-hardening 2-component system is pref. a polyurethane. The compsn. is produced by homogeneously mixing polyurethane diol component (80-10 wt. parts consisting of 15-50 wt. parts polyol, 5-40 wt. parts softener, 1.5-5 parts crosslinking agent, 10-80 wt. parts filler, 5-15 wt. parts water adsorbent, 0-5 wt. parts dye, opt with other ingredients, e.g. catalysts) with insecticide (5-15 wt. parts). and adding isocyanate component (5-15 wt. parts, consisting of 3-8 wt. parts isocyanate and 3-8 wt. parts softener) with constant stirring opt. with coating.
