1400659 Pneumatic shuttle conveyers SIEMENS AG 21 Sept 1973 [27 Sept 1972] 44353/73 Heading B8A In a pneumatic shuttle conveyer system, a plurality of tube strings are each provided with an individual air supply and each two tube strings are connectible via switch arrangements to a connecting tube including a transfer chamber and a tube obturating arrangement such that shuttles may be transferred under the control of a destination control device from any one tube string to any other tube string through a transfer chamber which may be included in or isolated from a conveyer air channel extending through one of the said tube strings. In the figure, tube strings R1 and R2 are connectible via tube U. A shuttle for transfer from tube string R1 to tube string R2 passes contact k1 and is diverted by switch arrangement W1 into tube U. Operation of contact k1 causes valve V12 to open and then slider S12 to open to allow the shuttle to trigger contact k12 as it passes into the transfer chamber. The contact k12 causes resetting of switch W1 slider S12 and valve V12. If tube string R2 is free, switch W2 is set, slider S21 and valve V21 are opened and the shuttle is drawn by vacuum into tube string R2, contact k2 causing resetting of switch W2, slider S21 and valve V21. |
