X=ray scanner producing pencil beam - has beam formed by slit in X=ray opaque plate and rotating slotted disc

The X-ray scanner has a pencil beam formed by a X-ray opaque plate (13) with a single slit and a rotating slotted disc (16). The pencil beam irradiates the object being examined, passing through it to detectors on the opposite side. The plate and disc assembly moves backwards and frowards across the diverging beam from the X-ray source in order to scan the object. The slit in the plate is approx. at right angles to whichever slot in the disc is aligned with the beam passing through the slit. The system may give fine and coarse scanning.
