1530696 Anti-friction coating for sausage casings TEEPAK INC 17 Sept 1976 [29 April 1976] 38684/76 Heading A2B [Also in Division B2] Prior to filling and linking, the external walls of a regenerated cellulose sausage casing are coated with 0.25-1 mg/in<SP>2</SP> of an antifriction material by applying thereto an aqueous composition preferably containing 0.25- 1 wt. % of the material. The casing may be fibre-reinforced. The anti-friction material may be a cellulose ether or its alkali metal salt (examples given), a mineral, silicone or vegetable oil, polyethylene oxide or sodium dioctyl sulphosuccinate. The coating composition may include 0.25-1 wt. % alkylene oxide adduct of a partial fatty acid ester to facilitate de-shirring of the casing and 10-15 wt. % polyol, examples of these materials being given. The coating may be applied to the casing whilst still in gel form prior to inflation, or to the finished casing before, during or after shirring. |
