The rail track laying system places the sleepers on the ballast, and then slides the rails, previously placed on either side of the future track, provisionally into position on the sleepers. The sleepers are placed continuously one after the other on the ballast by a distribution machine, in synchronism with the machine travel. The machine may have a self-propelled chassis with an endless conveyor, on whose top run a layer of sleepers is placed. This conveyor delivers them to a distributor delivering them one by one into an overhung position at the front of the machine. At the latter point there are also grips guiding the rails into place onto the sleepers in front of it. |
