<p>1533815 Anti-microbial composition CIBAGEIGY AG 18 May 1977 [20 May 1976] 20967/77 Heading A5E [Also in Divisions B2 and C3] Leather is finished and rendered resistant to microbial attack by treatment with a composition which contains at least: (I) a reaction product of (a) an at least diepoxide which contains 0.9-3.2 epoxy group equivalents/kg and (b) a dimer and/or trimer of a C 16-22 unsaturated fatty acid, and (II) an aminoplast precondensate containing alkyl ether groups. I may be prepared by reacting a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A with a mixture consisting of 91% trimer and 5% dimer of linoleic and linolenic acids. II may be a mixture of hexamethylolmelamine di- and tri-butyl ethers. In addition to I and II the composition may additionally contain (III) a reaction product of (a) and (b) above, (c) a C 12-24 fatty amine, and optionally (d) an anhydride of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, of an aliphatic monocarboxylic acid or of an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, optionally (e) a C 2-14 aliphatic saturated dicarboxylic acid and optionally (f) a difunctional compound which differs from (a), (d) and (e), e.g. epichlorohydrin or acrylonitrile. Alternatively, the composition may contain a reaction product of III and II. Examples of III are described and claimed in Specification 1446266.</p> |
