摘要 1536181 Sodium-sulphur battery FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 8 Jan 1976 [29 Jan 1975] 00720/76 Heading H1B An electrical cell comprising: (1) An anodic reaction zone containing an alkali metal reactant, 12 (e.g. K, Li, Na, mixtures and alloys thereof) in electrical contact with an external circuit (2) a cathodic reaction zone containing a cathodic reactant 20 comprising a liquid electrolyte which may contain sodium and sulphur which is electrochemically reactive with the anodic reactant and an electrode 18 of porous conductive material (e.g. porous grapnite or stainless steel felt) which is at least partially immersed in said cathodic reactant (3) a cation permeable barrier to mass liquid transfer 16 (e.g. #-alumina, #-alumina modified with B 2 O 3 or Li or Mg) interposed between and in contact with said anodic and cathodic reaction zone, the porous conductive electrode 18 being in electrical contact with both the cation permeable barrier and the external circuit wherein there exists a plurality of channels or spaces 24 within the cathodic reaction zone which in combination with the porous conductor electrode 18 allow flow within the cathodic zone of the cathodic reactant and cathodic reaction products. The cell may be cylindrical in form, may be either a primary or rechargeable secondary cell and the anodic reactant may be heated by either induction heating or a heat exchanger. Several different forms of cell construction are described Figs. 2 to 9, 11 and 12 and a plurality of the cells may be combined to form a battery
