Medicaments for obstructive airway disease e.g. bronchial asthma - contg. theophylline and hexoprenaline, giving long-lasting effect but low activity on heart and circulation

The medicaments contain (A) theophylline and (B) hexoprenaline and/or its pharmacologically acceptable salt. Pref. medicaments contain 50-350mg. (esp. 100-300mg) theophylline and 0.1-3mg. (esp. 0.32-1.55mg) hexoprenaline. The combination has a surprisingly high and long-lasting action in reducing elevated airway resistance but surprisingly low activity on the heart and circulation. It can thus be used in the treatment of bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, obstructive pulmonary emphesema and corpulmonale.
