Electrified railway track voltage detector - uses several indicator lamps and bridges conductor and another rail

The prevention of electrical accidents from line conductor rail on railway system is achieved by use of detector which contacts conductor rail and another rail. Several luminous discharge lamps are orientated in different directions. The detector comprises hollow body of insulating material in two parts which are screwed together. An upper face (3) is horizontal in use and forms a head with lamp covers (11) and the three faces. A handle in centre of body (10) enables placing of detector in bridge position across rails (23, 24) to permit connection to be made to contacts (15). Presence of a voltage is indicated by the lamps.
